You'll be amazed how much even the smallest car can
hold and stay within its legal load limit.
Bear in mind the following weights when loading your car after a shop:
A case of wine (12x75cl) weighs 15kg
A case of champagne or sparkling wine (12x75cl) weighs 22kg
A case of lager "stubbies" (24x25cl) weighs 8kg
A case of beer/lager (24x50cl) weighs 13kg
|
To put that in layman's language:
Ten cases of wine (120 bottles) weighs 150kg or as much as two adult men
Four cases of champagne weighs 88kg that's one 14-stone man
Twelve "stubbies" equals two husbands
And ten cases of beer/lager (24x50cl) is the equivalent of two shapely wives!

If you want to be really precise, consult your vehicle handbook,
which will give maximum loading capacity.
Remember to leave some space to see out of the back window!
