The Cotentin windmill dates from 1744 and was renovated in 1997 when it became the only functional windmill in Normandy. As you will see, the renovation work was a success both in its preservation of a national heritage site and that of the local economic activity: the Cotentin windmill is now one of the few windmills in France capable of grinding large quantities of cereals. Visitors can discover cereals of the past such as 'hard-wheat' and buckwheat. Visitors are also able to admire a magnificent wooden barn with its thatched roof which houses a country boutique and a local history collection. Located at an altitude of 120 metres above sea, this site provides visitors with an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding woodland.
