Travel Essentials
Car Directions: From London take the M25, M23, A23, then A26 into Newhaven; from Brighton, Seaford or Eastbourne, take the A259.
Bus Directions: Regular buses (operated by South Coast Buses / Brighton & Hove) arrive and depart daily from Brighton, Peacehaven, Seaford, Bexhill, Folkestone, Dover, Rye and Hastings. National Express coaches operate services to and from Newhaven.
Rail Directions: Connex South Central operate services from Seaford, Lewes/Brighton. National services run frequently between London and Newhaven mostly with at least one change.
Petrol Stations: Sainsbury’s superstore in The Drove, on the A259 towards Seaford has its own petrol station.
Planning Ahead
Places of Interest: Newhaven is at the heart of East Sussex, near the historic towns of Seaford, Peacehaven and Lewes. On the cliffs above the harbour is Newhaven Fort, now open to the public as a war museum, and in Newhaven marina there are facilities for watersports. The new Seahaven leisure centre includes a swimming pool and indoor skiing. Along the coast towards Seaford are the ruins of Tidemills village. For keen walkers Newhaven is also close to the South Downs.
