Travel Essentials
Car Directions: Take the M5 to Exeter, then onto the A38 - which goes all the way to Plymouth. Once in Plymouth, take the A374 and keep following signs for the city centre. As you near the centre, signs for the ferry port are prominent everywhere.
Bus Directions: National Express coaches run from many towns - such as Newquay, Bristol and London’s Victoria Station, into the centre of Plymouth. The Ferry Port is a five minute taxi ride from the coach station.
Rail Directions: Trains regularly run from Paddington in London to Plymouth - the journey time is about 3 1/2 hours. Plymouth Station is close to the centre of Plymouth and the ferry port is only 5 mins away by taxi.
Amenities: There is free parking in the port, a commission-free bureau de change, a café, toilets and baby changing facilities.
Planning Ahead
Places of Interest: Plymouth has a great naval history, reflected in such places as Plymouth Hoe (where Drake infamously played bowls) and Smeaton's Tower Lighthouse (which you can climb to get a panoramic view of the Plymouth Sound). The National Marine Aquarium is in the Barbican area of town and offers a unique glimpse of underwater life including a shark theatre and the "World of Seahorses".
