Santander port information
Santander is situated on the north coast of Spain and has great rail and road connections to both Spain and France. From the Port, it's a five hour drive to Madrid or Toulouse and six and a half hours to Barcelona, all on the national motorway network.
If travelling as a foot passenger, Santander is on the national Spanish railway network and has good links to Alicante, Madrid, Oviedo and Cordoba. It takes four and a half hours to reach Madrid by train.

Santander is a bustling yet elegant regional capital and there is a lot to enjoy. For an overview, there is a regular multilingual open-top tour bus departing from the Paseo Pareda, just outside the port, with the ability to get on and off the bus around the city. Santander's numerous churches and markets are also worth an explore. Much of the city has a modern feel as many older buildings were destroyed in a catastrophic fire in 1941.
